Episode 3: “The Billionaire Who Hated Traffic”
Let me tell you about the time I got scolded by a billionaire… for being on time.
🎬 The Scene
Beacon Hill, 4:50 PM. Pickup was scheduled for 5:00 PM sharp. I arrive early (as always) and shoot the “I’m outside when you’re ready” text.
This man steps out—Rolex, suede loafers, airpods in—waves me over, gets in, then gives me the most dead serious look and says:
“You’re never to show up early again. Time is money. And I calculate down to the second.”
Sir, I drive a Cadillac, not a time machine.
🚘 The Ride
We’re headed to Logan. He’s tracking every turn on Apple Maps like he built the algorithm. At one point he says,
“Take the Mass Ave connector. Waze would’ve told you that.”
I’m like, “Waze? I am Waze with leather seats and cologne.”
He didn’t laugh, but the silence was oddly… respectful.
We got to Logan 3 minutes early. He nodded, tipped $100 in cash, and said,
“I hate traffic, but I hate waiting more. Good work.”
Moral of the story? Sometimes even billionaires just want to be heard. Or maybe they just want control. Either way…
